Status: Interim draft for website publishing
Last updated: July 14, 2026
Operator: Cybersmith International LLC, doing business as Legwerk / thelegwerk.com (“Legwerk,” “Cybersmith,” “we,” “us,” or “our”)
Note: This is an interim Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”). It works together with our [Terms and Conditions](/legwerk/terms). Counsel should review before production launch.
1. Purpose
Legwerk exists to help organizations discover opportunities, start real conversations, and track relationship progress toward yes.
This AUP describes uses that are allowed, discouraged, and prohibited so the platform stays useful for genuine relationship-building and safe for everyone on it.
2. Guiding standard
Use Legwerk the way you would want someone to use your name, inbox, and reputation in your community.
If an action would feel deceptive, harassing, spammy, or extractive in person, do not do it through Legwerk.
3. Allowed uses
You may use Legwerk to:
- find local businesses, nonprofits, organizers, creators, chambers, and partners relevant to your goals;
- plan and send first-touch or follow-up outreach that is honest and relevant;
- track replies, meetings, introductions, and other yeses;
- collaborate with teammates or contracted agencies inside your own workspaces;
- connect your own email account (or a client’s authorized account) to send and review relationship mail in context.
4. Relationship and outreach rules
When contacting people through or with help from Legwerk, you must:
- represent yourself and your organization truthfully;
- make claims you can stand behind;
- honor opt-outs and “do not contact” requests promptly;
- respect applicable marketing, privacy, and communications laws (including CAN-SPAM, TCPA, and regional privacy rules where they apply);
- avoid misleading subject lines, fake personalization, or impersonation;
- not pressure, threaten, or coerce someone into a meeting, sponsorship, referral, or partnership.
Legwerk measures agreement. It is not a tool for blasting volume for its own sake.
5. Prohibited uses
You may not use the Service to:
- Spam or abuse channels — high-volume unsolicited messages, purchased or scraped lists used without a lawful basis, or repeated contact after someone asked you to stop.
- Harass or harm people — threats, stalking, hate, doxxing, or content meant to intimidate.
- Deceive — phishing, spoofing, fake identities, or pretending to be another person, brand, or public official.
- Break the law — including fraud, bribery facilitation, illegal marketing, IP theft, or privacy violations.
- Violate third-party rules — Google / Microsoft / email provider policies, website terms of data sources you use, or platform rules for social or event systems you connect.
- Attack systems — probing, scraping beyond permitted product features, malware, credential stuffing, or attempts to bypass access controls.
- Misuse connected inboxes — reading or sending mail for purposes outside authorized relationship work; accessing mailboxes without the account owner’s permission.
- Resell or misuse access — sharing accounts in ways that hide who is acting, or using Legwerk to power an undisclosed spam / lead-farm product.
- Upload unlawful or harmful content — child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, or violent extremist recruitment content.
- Interfere with others — disrupting another customer’s workspace, diverting their opportunities in bad faith through the platform, or reverse engineering to build a competing clone from our non-public systems.
6. Data you bring in
You are responsible for the lists and contacts you import or generate.
Do not upload data you do not have a right to use. Do not use sensitive personal data (health, precise location used to stalk, financial account numbers, government IDs, children’s data, etc.) unless you have a clear lawful basis and the feature is designed for that purpose.
7. Agency and multi-client use
If you are an agency or consultant using Legwerk for clients:
- get clear authorization from each client before connecting their email or acting in their name;
- keep client workspaces and data separated unless the client agrees otherwise;
- do not reuse one client’s confidential outreach strategy or private contact notes for another client without permission.
8. Fair use and operational limits
We may set rate limits, sending limits, discovery caps, or feature gates to protect deliverability, infrastructure, and other customers.
Circumventing those limits without written approval is a violation of this AUP.
9. Monitoring and enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations. We may remove content, throttle features, suspend accounts, or terminate access.
Where required or appropriate, we may report illegal activity to authorities or notify affected parties / providers.
10. Reporting
Report suspected abuse or AUP violations to hello@thelegwerk.com (or the abuse contact published on thelegwerk.com), addressed to Cybersmith International LLC / Legwerk. Include relevant account names, timestamps, and message examples when possible.
11. Changes
We may update this AUP. The dated version on this page is the active one. Continued use means you accept the current AUP.
12. Relationship to Terms
This AUP is incorporated into the Terms and Conditions. If there is a conflict on allowable conduct, the stricter rule applies.
Interim draft only. Have counsel review before commercial launch, enterprise contracts, or fundraising diligence.
